MIRA was my first project working at Nautilus International. It is an app developed primarily for Magnox, who manage decommissioned nuclear sites across the UK. It runs on Android and Windows touch screen devices like the Microsoft Surface, as well as any Windows PC.
It features a complete 3D recreation of a site, originally the Bradwell station in Essex, allowing users to look closely at each building and structure by tapping/clicking their label. You can view each one's basic information, hazards, access/egress points and for certain buildings, interiors and floor plans. You can also view the locations off all CCTV cameras, fire hydrants, telecom, muster and RV points.
Among other things, this can be used for training and tabletop planning, as well as to quickly provide emergency services with a good awareness of the layout of the site. Other features include various forms for recording events and decisions, as well as a METHANE report generator to easily compile all of the essential information to pass to emergency services in the case of an incident.
I was hired to implement a long list requested changes and new features to the original version of the app made by the company a couple of years beforehand. These include a route planner, a first-person walkaround view and a basic fire simulation. I was also tasked with creating a new version of the app for the Sizewell A site in Suffolk. I went on to develop demo versions to market to other potential commercial clients, featuring, as examples, a shopping centre and a high rise block of flats.
